A Long Pause, and a New Chapter

It’s been eight years since I last posted here.

Still curly, much grayer, bifocal resistant
The last post I wrote was about a moment I didn’t see coming — my first real brush with working-mom guilt. My daughter got sick on a field trip, and I couldn’t be reached.

The post was titled Radio Silence. I didn’t realize then how much that phrase would define the next eight years of parenting for me.

Because after that, I stopped writing.

Those eight years were spent almost entirely offline, immersed in the extraordinary work of raising three children born within three years of each other. I stepped back from writing publicly because the moments I once wrote about so freely suddenly felt less like mine to share. Their lives, as they unfolded, were simply mine to witness.

I found myself noticing how those early years shaped who they were becoming. I watched the moments of childhood ripple into personalities, curiosities, and independence. It was the sweet spot of elementary to middle school, where parenting is a mix of near-constant presence and subtle guidance.

Now I’m writing again on Substack, One Woman Riot, where I continue sharing the story of this whirlwind family life. It’s a space to explore how these years of attention, care, and observation continue to shape our lives — and to examine the broader themes of motherhood, identity, and the cultural soup my children are stewing in. (Hence the riot part: I flip metaphorical tables from time to time.)

If this is your first time visiting, welcome! You can dive into the origin story — fair warning: some of it is dark, some of it is hilarious, and I still laugh until I snort reading these stories from the front lines — or skip straight to One Woman Riot and join me there.

(For the most accurate — and painfully hilarious — picture of early motherhood with three under three, check out posts from 2009-2011. I may never recover mentally from the sleep deprivation and utter chaos of those years. Shudder.)
